Founded in 2016 in Moshi, the Kilimanjaro Search and Rescue (Kilimanjaro SAR) aims to make Mount Kilimanjaro the safest place to visit in Africa. Created by Danish mountaineer Ivan Braun, they respond swiftly to emergencies, not only on Mount Kilimanjaro but also on Mt. Meru. If climbers face sudden health issues or injuries, the team can send a rescue helicopter in 5 minutes. In less than 15 minutes, injured individuals can be in the helicopter, soon getting treatment at Moshi Airport's high-altitude clinic. Beyond helping climbers, Kilimanjaro SAR supports local mountain workers and park rangers with free services through their charity foundation.
